Baynes, Howard named top prep players for week

The Montgomery Quarterback Club has announced its Players of the Week for games of Oct. 11. Dezmond Howard from Hooper Academy is the Private School Player of the Week and Brandon Baynes from Tallassee High School is the Public School Player of the Week.

Edgewood takes 'sloppy' season opener over Hooper

With less than two minutes before halftime one would never have guessed that Edgewood Academy would defeat Hooper Academy, 57-27, on Saturday at Faulkner's John Mark Stallings Field.

With 1:35 remaining in the first half the Colts went in the wrong direction and the Wildcats took full control and secured their 32nd consecutive victory.

HOPE HULL - Hooper Academy quarterback Jimmy Cox wasn’t lamenting the fact that his coach was different from the one when he left school last spring.

But he and the Hooper Colts are having to make a few adjustments heading into the new football season.
