TROY – The Troy football team completed its second practice of fall camp as the Trojans wrapped a 28-period workout inside Veterans Memorial Stadium on Friday.

“It was hotter and tougher today, but we’ve got to deal with the heat,” Troy football head coach Larry Blakeney said. “Today, we saw a lot of good things; we’re coaching them hard and working them hard. We’re headed in the right direction.”

Troy continued to work through individual drills before completing Friday’s practice with an 11-on-11 period to end the three-hour session.

“We’ve got some players on defense that have come in and gotten plugged in well,” Blakeney said. “We’ve had solid play in the secondary and got some good solid players up front. I’m optimistic about the possibilities on the defensive side.”

The Trojans will practice in helmets and shoulder pads on Saturday for the first time during fall camp. On Monday, Troy will hit the practice field in full pads. All of Troy’s practices are open to the public.

“We can do a little bit more with the shoulder pads and head gear,” Blakeney said looking to tomorrow’s practice. “We’ll get into the fundamentals of the game. We can find out a little bit more about our team in shoulder pads and as we head into full pads on Monday.”

Troy opens the 2013 season on Aug. 31 against UAB in Veterans Memorial Stadium. The game will be broadcast live by ESPN3 and will kick off at 6 p.m.

Season tickets for Troy’s five home games are available and can be purchased by calling the Troy ticket office at 1-877-878-WINS, by logging on to TroyTrojans.com or by visiting the Tine Davis Fieldhouse.
