Marbury’s Palmer, LA’s Reid top players named by QB Club
The Montgomery Quarterback Club has announced its Players of the Week for games of Aug. 28. KJ Palmer from Marbury High School is the Public School Player of the Week and Brandon Reid from Lowndes Academy is the Private School Player of the Week.
Both players will be honored at the Club’s next meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Jack Crowe, former head coach at Arkansas and Jacksonville State, will be the featured speaker.
Palmer, a sophomore running back, rushed for 203 yards on 23 carries and two touchdowns in Marbury’s 56-27 win over Holtville. Palmer also had two receptions for 64 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for a 2 point conversion.
Reid, a junior running back, rushed for 225 yards on 25 carries and four touchdowns in Lowndes Academy’s 48-42 overtime win over Jackson Academy. Reid also had two catches for two-point conversions and a 40-yard kickoff return. Reid also ran a fumble recovery back 50 yards for a touchdown to tie the game at 42.
The Montgomery Quarterback Club meets at the Montgomery Country Club. The social hour begins at 5:15 followed by dinner at 6:15 and the program at 6:45.
