Floyd, Tate players of the week

The Montgomery Quarterback Club has announced its Players of the Week for games of Sept. 4.

Jackson Tate from Edgewood Academy is the Private School Player of the Week and Kell Floyd from Elmore County High School is the Public School Player of the Week.

Both players will be honored at the Club’s next meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 15. Rod Bramblett, the voice of the Auburn Tigers, and Jim Ellis, the voice of the Mississippi State Bulldogs, will be the featured speakers.

Tate, a junior receiver, had seven catches for 174 yards and three touchdowns in Edgewood Academy’s 61-0 win over Glenwood Academy. Tate, for the season, has 19 catches for 385 yards and seven touchdowns.

Floyd, a senior running back, rushed for 97 yards on three carries including a 77 yard touchdown run in Elmore County’s 53-22 win over Holtville. Floyd also caught a 77-yard touchdown pass and returned a fumble recovery 50 yards for a touchdown.

The Montgomery Quarterback Club meets at the Montgomery Country Club. The social hour begins at 5:15 followed by dinner at 6:15 and the program at 6:45. For membership information visit the Club’s website at www.mgmqbackclub.org.
