Prattville forfeits lone victory
Prattville’s unusually horrific season suddenly got a little worse on Monday.
According to a release from the AHSAA, Prattville has been fined, placed on probation for one year and ordered to forfeit the lone varsity football victory for violating AHSAA eligibility rules.
That win came in the second week of the season when the Lions defeated Stanhope Elmore, 28-23, in a non-region game.
The forfeit drops Prattville to 0-5 for the season, a first since 1974 when the program was winless in 10 games.
The school requested the AHSAA to make an official ruling on the student’s eligibility whose name was not released.
Prattville played an ineligible student prior to his completion of a bona fide move in violation of the “Transfer Rule”. The school must forfeit all contests its team won in which the student participated.
The probationary period is a warning that other violations of this nature could bring further sanctions against the school.
Prattville (0-5, 0-3 7A R2) has a bye week before going to Smiths Station next week.
