Faulkner’s Hill earns national weekly award
Faulkner’s Di’mar Hill has been named the NAIA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week in the third selection of the season the national office announced this week.
Hill was also named the player of the week in the Southern States Athletic Conference.
This is the first-ever national weekly award for a Faulkner basketball player since entering the SSAC more than a decade ago.
The senior guard from Marietta, Ga., shot 57 percent from the floor and 85 percent from the free throw line in Faulkner’s two conference wins over Blue Mountain College (71-53) and No. 8 William Carey University (94-82) at home last week.
Hill tallied 51 points over the two outings, which included 32 against national power William Carey. He also contributed 10 rebounds, nine assists, three steals and a block on the week.
Hill is averaging more than 27 points, four rebounds and assists per game this season.
The SSAC award marked the third in his career. Hill’s last conference honors came in back-to-back weeks in February of 2015.
The national award marks the first by a league player since 2013 and represents only the ninth selection since the conference’s inception.
