QB Club tabs White, Martin as top players for the week

The Montgomery Quarterback Club has announced its Players of the Week for games of Sept. 8.

Keefe White from Montgomery Academy is the Private School Player of the Week and Jadarious Martin from Wetumpka High School is the Public School Player of the Week.

Both players will be honored at the Club’s next meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 19. Cecil Hurt from The Tuscaloosa News and Phillip Marshall from Auburn Undercover will be the featured speakers.

White, a senior running back, rushed for 329 yards on 28 carries and two touchdowns in Montgomery Academy’s 34-22 win over Beulah. One of the touchdown runs covered 82 yards.

Martin, a junior quarterback, rushed for 106 yards and three touchdowns in Wetumpka’s 44-22 win over Chelsea. Martin also had 175 passing yards and a touchdown.

The Montgomery Quarterback Club meets at the Montgomery Country Club. The social hour begins at 5:15 followed by dinner at 6:15 and the program at 6:45.
