FCA TOURNEY: Suicide squeeze lifts LAMP; Brew Tech beats Marbury

Lucas Tribble’s suicide squeeze bunt pushed across Harry Norman with the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift LAMP to a 6-5 win over Paul Bryant in the Jason Armstrong FCA Memorial Baseball Tournament at Paterson Field on Friday.

The Golden Tigers (4-4) held off a seventh-inning rally when the Stampede (5-3) put the tying run on third with no outs. Reliever Justin Watson struck out two in the inning and in between, Chris Dunn made a stab and grab on a grounder to hold the runner at third to preserve the win.

Watson pitched two and 1/3 innings to pick up the win.

Tribble also had a two-run single in the fourth. Dunn added two hits.

LAMP is scheduled to play Brewbaker Tech on Saturday, weather permitting.

Brew Tech takes advantage of Marbury miscues

The Rams used seven Marbury walks and four errors to take an early lead on the way to a 7-3 victory over Marbury at Paterson Field. 

Devin McKenney led the Rams (2-3) with three hits and two stolen bases.  Joel Hicks also provided a spark in the line-up going 2 for 3 with two RBIs. 

Baxter Reeves was the winning pitcher (2-0) going three innings with four strikeouts. 

Brew Tech is scheduled to play two games on Saturday with a game at Riverwalk at 1:30  p.m. against Charles Henderson followed by a game at 5 p.m. against LAMP at Paterson. Marbury (5-3) is scheduled to face Catholic at 3:30 at Faulkner.

ACA rallies to defeat Charles Henderson

Goodwin Scott picked up the win and Tanner Parham had two hits to lead Alabama Christian to a 4-3 victory over Charles Henderson at Faulkner on Friday.

The Eagles (2-6) scored three in the seventh to win.

Trinity handles Brantley

William Stabler and Weston Epperson each homered in Trinity’s 12-2 victory over Brantley at Jason Armstrong Memorial Field at Trinity on Friday.

Stabler had four hits including a double and four runs driven in.  Epperson also had two hits. Mark White and Blake Barrow each had two hits for Trinity (4-1).

Barrow was the winning pitcher.

Trinity is scheduled to face Paul Bryant at Riverwalk on Saturday, weather permitting.

Seven-run third sparks St. James’ win over Lee

The St. James Trojans scored seven times in the third inning on the way to a 7-6 victory over Robert E. Lee at St. James Field on Friday.

William Olsey had three hits with a double while John Slayton had two hits for St. James (6-1). Luke Strane was the winning pitcher.

Lee (0-5) plays Brewbaker Tech on Monday.
