AHSAA SOCCER: PCA sweeps into next round

GIRLS SOCCER

Prattville Christian 7, Childersburg 1

PRATTVILLE -- Avery Rogers scored four goals and had an assist to lead the Panthers to a 7-1 win over Childersburg in the first round of the Class 1A-3A state soccer playoffs at Panther Stadium on Monday night.

Emily Branch added two goals and an assist, CoCo Thomas scored a goal and Ella Pegg had an assist to help PCA reach the quarterfinals of the girls’ state soccer playoffs for the second consecutive year. PCA (7-6-1) will face the winner of Tuesday’s matchup between Cottage Hill Christian and Trinity, either hosting Trinity or traveling to Mobile to play Cottage Hill in the quarterfinals.

BOYS SOCCER

Prattville Christian 3, Tarrant 2

PRATTVILLE -- Trey Barkley scored both of the Panthers’ goal, tying the game at 2-2 with his second goal with six minutes remaining, and freshman Cade Segars let one fly from deep with four minutes left in the second overtime period that found the top back corner of the net for the win in the first round of the 1A-3A state soccer playoffs at Panther Stadium on Monday night.

Liam Taylor assisted Segars on the game winning goal. 

PCA (7-7-1) will face the winner of Tuesday’s matchup between Trinity and St. Luke’s Episcopal, either hosting Trinity or traveling to St. Luke’s in the quarterfinals.
