Bama, Auburn to travel to Tar Heel state for second edition of ACC/SEC Challenge

STAFF REPORT

Alabama and Auburn will both travel to the state of North Carolina in the second-annual ACC/SEC Challenge, set for Dec. 3-4.

The made-for-TV event has the Crimson Tide traveling to Chapel Hill to face the Tar Heels of North Carolina while Auburn will visit Cameron Indoor Stadium to face Duke.

Both games are set for Dec. 4. Times and television designations will be announced later.

The two games are part of the annual event which replaced the annual SEC-Big 12 Challenge. Last year, the two leagues split 14 games. Alabama lost to Clemson while Auburn defeated Virginia Tech.

The Tide’s game with North Carolina is a rematch of last season's NCAA tournament Sweet 16 matchup, which the Crimson Tide won before advancing to the Final Four. The teams have met 15 times overall with the Heels owning an 8-7 lead in the series, although Bama has won the last two meetings.

Auburn and Duke have played four times with the last meeting in 2018 in. the Maui Classic. Auburn has yet to earn a win against the Blue Devils

Other highlights of the Challenge include Kentucky and new coach Mark Pope traveling to Clemson; Texas will travel to North Carolina State and Arkansas and new coach John Calipari visits Miami, Fla.
