Biscuits end longest losing streak

By GRAHAM DUNN

The Montgomery Biscuits ended the longest losing streak in franchise history on Monday with an 8-6 victory at the Mississippi Braves in Pearl.

The losing streak had reached 12 games before Monday’s win.

The Biscuits had six games cancelled due to a rash of COVID-19 cases as part of a horrific two weeks. The game scheduled for May 25 in Pensacola was rained out.

Just one of the six games scheduled on the last home stand against Pensacola was played. Prior to that, the Biscuits were swept in a rare seven-game series by Tennessee.

The losing streak continued with a loss to Pensacola followed by four losses at Biloxi.

Montgomery is scheduled to play five more games in Pearl this week although Tuesday is a rare off day since the opener of the six-game series was played on Memorial Day.

The Biscuits are still just four games behind in the South Division standings with 23 games remaining in the first half of the season. They are not expected to make up the games lost due to COVID.

The Biscuits return home next Tuesday for a six-game series against Chattanooga.
