Biscuits win home opener behind solid pitching

The Montgomery Biscuits enjoyed the home opener plus took care of a nemesis at the same time Tuesday at Riverwalk Stadium.

The Biscuits (3-1) snapped a nine-game losing streak against their former North Division rivals Tennessee (2-2), winning 5-1 in front of an announced crowd of 3,986.

Catcher Logan Driscoll led the way for Montgomery with two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Greg Jones had a triple and a run scored.

Sean Hunley made his first start for the Biscuits since Game 2 of the 2022 South Division Championship Series, and the right-hander worked four innings, allowing a run on four hits. He struck out six. 

John Doxakis entered the game in relief in the fifth and fired three scoreless innings to pick up the win.

Porter Hodge (0-1) was tagged with the loss for Tennessee.

Montgomery stole four more bases on Tuesday night, to push the total to 16 through the first four games of the season. The Biscuits have not been caught stealing yet.

The Biscuits will look to improve to 4-1 on Wednesday when Logan Workman is scheduled to make his Double-A debut against Daniel Palencia on Military Wednesday at 6:35 p.m.
