FOOTBALL UPDATES: Bama-Ole Miss changes start time; Tallassee suffers COVID losses

 The kickoff time for the Alabama at Ole Miss football game to be played Saturday in Oxford has been changed to 6:30 p.m. Central Time due to Hurricane Delta, it was announced Thursday.  The game was originally scheduled to start at 5 pm CT. 

The change in start time was made to provide a forecast for better game conditions.

The game will be televised by ESPN as originally planned.

 

Tallassee cancels next two games

Tallassee school officials announced on Thursday the cancellation of the Tigers next two games due to COVID-19 cases.

The Tigers were scheduled to play at Talladega on Thursday but due to a coronavirus case was unable to travel for the game.

The Tigers must forfeit the next two games to Talladega this week and Holtville next week.

Tallassee was also scheduled to hold Homecoming festivities next week but will reschedule.

With the losses, Tallassee’s record falls to 2-6 and 2-3 in Class 5A, Region 4.

 

Ryan, Ousley QB Club Players of the Week

The Montgomery Quarterback Club has announced its Players of the Week for games of Oct. 1-2. Patrick Ryan from Montgomery Catholic is the Private School Player of the Week and E.J. Ousley from Prattville High School is the Public School Player of the Week.

While the Club is not holding weekly meetings this fall due to COVID-19, awards will be presented to the players by a group of board members at the time and place selected by the head coach.

Ryan, a junior linebacker, had nine solo tackles and six assists in Catholic’s 13-12 win over Pike County. Ryan leads the Catholic defense averaging 10 tackles per game. Catholic, coached by Aubrey Blackwell, is 5-2 on the season and hosts Childersburg this week.

Ousley, a junior quarterback, passed for 276 yards and three touchdowns in Prattville’s 35-28 win over Enterprise. Prattville, coached by Caleb Ross, is 5-2 on the season and hosts Central, Phenix City this week.
