FRIDAY HOOPS: Evangel boys rout Heritage; Hooper spanks Sparta

Evangel Christian 62, Heritage Christian 26
Tylon Shine scored 16 points, two assists and two steals to help Evangel Christian Academy to a season opening win over Heritage in the Evangel gym on Friday.
Mekhi Williams added 11 points, three assists and three steals while Jordan Duncan chipped in 10 points, three assists and three steals.
The Lions (1-0) will travel to Escambia Academy on Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. tip.
Montgomery Academy 86, Indian Springs School 58
PELHAM -- Sophomore Braden Gordon led the Eagles with 28 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and three steals in a win over Indian Springs on Friday.
Skyler Stovall added 26 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and three assists, followed by Jarrett Friendly with seven points, 12 rebounds, three steals and two assists and Brewer Welch with six points, eight assists and seven rebounds. Cade Segars added seven points.
Montgomery Academy (2-0) will play Marbury in the first round of the Coach Larry Chapman Foundation Tip Off Classic on Monday at Montgomery Academy.
Prattville Christian 46, Holt 38
PRATTVILLE -- Cody Chapman scored 16 points to lead the Panthers to a 46-38 win over Holt in the area opener for both teams.
Justin Chapman added 11 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Wade Mora with six points and six rebounds, Carter Fiacco with four points and five assists and Sam Wheeler with three points and seven rebounds. Ethan Girlie scored three points and Easton Miller took three charges.
PCA (2-2) will play Lee-Scott Academy on Monday in the Coach Larry Chapman Foundation Tip Off Tournament at Montgomery Academy.
In the junior varsity game, CJ Robinson had 18 points and eight rebounds in the Panthers’ 53-36 loss to Holt. Murray Wright added 12 points and 12 rebounds. Easton Carr scored six points. Ethan Kiefer added five assists and four rebounds for PCA (0-4).
Hooper Academy 68, Sparta Academy 40
EVERGREEN -- Nolan Cole scored 30 points to lead the Colts to a rout of Sparta on Friday night.
Cole scored 18 points in the first half as Hooper used a strong second-quarter performance to pull away to a 35-19 halftime lead.
Luke Moseley added 11 points for Hooper, followed by Jeremy Griggs with eight and Christ McCoy and Dallas Henderson with seven points each.
Hooper (2-0) returns home to play Morgan on Dec. 2.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Prattville Christian 72, Holt 11
PRATTVILLE -- Ally Blankinchip had a triple double with 19 points, 11 steals, 10 rebounds and seven assists, all in the first half, as the Panthers opened area play with a resounding victory over Holt on Friday in the PCA gym.
Kayden Carr added 21 points, seven rebounds and four steals, all in the first half. Jenna McClendon had 17 points and eight rebounds, all in the first half.
Kayleigh Arthur scored six points, Laney Little scored four points and Baylee Rogers scored three points, while Chelsea Cutler added five rebounds and five steals and Hannah Royal grabbed five rebounds.
PCA (5-1) improved to 1-0 in area play and will play Pike Road on Monday in the Coach Larry Chapman Foundation Tip-Off Tournament at Montgomery Academy.
Hooper Academy 42, Sparta Academy 31
EVERGREEN -- Grace Seale had 19 points, four rebounds and two steals to lead the Colts to a 42-31 win over Sparta on Friday.
Jade Taylor added 13 points, six rebounds and a steal, Katie Robinson had seven points, four rebounds, three steals and an assist, Ashbee Norman had three points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals and Raylee Midkiff added six rebounds and a steal.
Hooper returns to action on Dec. 2 at home against Morgan Academy.
