PREP RECAPS: LAMP tops Autaugaville in OT; Trinity girls clinch Area title

LAMP 83, Autaugaville 79 (OT)

Micah Boone had 29 points and eight rebounds to lead the Tigers past Autaugaville in the LAMP gym on Friday night.

Quinn Sloane added 19 points and Mitchell Sloane followed with 12 for LAMP, which plays host to Trinity on Tuesday.

Pike Road 60, St. James 42

PIKE ROAD – Shaun Holmes scored 16 points and Brandon Glasco and Jaylen Washington each added 10 as the Patriots cruised to a 3A Area 5 win on Tuesday night.

Pike Road (17-4) improved to 4-1 in area play, while the Trojans dropped to 0-5.

Evangel Christian 56, Eastwood Christian 26

David Werking scored 18 points with two rebounds and two assists to lead the Lions to an area win over Eastwood, giving Evangel the AISA Class A Region 1 Area 2 regular season championship and a number one seed in the upcoming state tournament.

Evangel (23-1) will travel to Crenshaw Christian on Tuesday and play Eastwood again next Friday before their first game in the AISA state tournament quarterfinals on Feb. 10 in the Multiplex at 7:30 p.m.

Jordan Grice added nine points, six rebounds, three blocked shots and two steals in Friday’s win, while Jhamari Giles chipped in seven points and grabbed eight rebounds. Jakolvian Johnson had six points, seven rebounds and a block, Tyree Curry had five points, four assists and three steals and Marcus Townsend finished with five points and four rebounds.

 

Macon East Academy 46, Success Unlimited 41

CECIL -- Chris Daniel scored 19 points and had three steals to lead the Knights to a win over Success Unlimited on Thursday night.

Jayman Pettway added 12 points, seven assists and three steals for Macon East (16-11), which traveled to Tuscaloosa Academy on Friday night.

 

Evangel Christian 52, Abbeville Christian 41

ABBEVILLE -- Tyree Curry scored a game-high 22 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals to help Evangel to the win and sweep of their area series with Abbeville Christian on Tuesday night. Jordan Grice finished with 10 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks and David Werking had seven points, three rebounds and two assists.

The top-ranked Lions, (22-1, 3-0) will travel to Eastwood on Friday.

 

GIRLS

Trinity 54, Alabama Christian 30

Emma Kate Smith had 21 points, five rebounds and five steals to lead the Wildcats to the 4A Area 4 regular season title with an easy win at Alabama Christian on Friday.

Mary Alice Sasser added 12 points and five rebounds for Trinity, which travels to St. James on Saturday.

With the win, Trinity earned the right to host the area tournament in two weeks and will play LAMP in an opening-round game before facing the winner of the ACA-Catholic game for the area tournament championship.

 

St. James 67, BTW Magnet 17

KK Hall scored 19 points with the help of five 3-pointers as the Trojans cruised to a 26-point halftime lead against BTW Magnet on Friday night.

Seanna Brooks, Hannah Grace Griggs and Chelsey Craig all had eight points each. 

St. James (12-9) plays host to Trinity on Saturday at 1 p.m.

 

Autaugaville 45, LAMP 39

Elisa Golson scored 24 points and Makiah Burns added 11 as Autaugaville defeated LAMP in the Tigers’ gym on Friday night.

Caitlin Russell led LAMP with 11 points. The Tigers play host to Trinity on Tuesday.

 

Macon East Academy 47, Success Unlimited 12

CECIL – Maddie Ross had 15 points, four rebounds and three steals as the Knights overwhelmed Success Unlimited 47-12 on Thursday night in the Macon East gym.

Georgia Blaze added 10 points, four rebounds and six steals as Macon East held the Mustangs without a field goal in the first half. Macon East added 10 points in the third quarter and 16 more in the fourth after building a 21-1 halftime lead.

Emily Nickles added nine points and nine rebounds, followed by Emi Lott with eight points, four rebounds and a pair of steals.

Macon East traveled to Tuscaloosa Academy on Friday night.
