Montgomery Academy 61, Alabama Christian Academy 47
DJ Vinson and Skyler Stovall combined for 28 points as Montgomery Academy defeated Alabama Christian 61-47 at MA’s Joe Mooty Court on Tuesday.
Montgomery Academy improved to 2-1 in 3A Area 6 play, a game behind unbeaten St. James and a game ahead of Trinity, while ACA dropped to 0-3 in area play.
Vinson had 15 points, eight rebounds, four steals and a pair of blocked shots, while Stovall added 13 points, six rebounds, a pair of steals and five assists. Cole Caddell chipped in 11 points, all in the second half, along with four steals and two assists. Seth Edwards had seven points, six rebounds and a block, while Brewer Welch added six points, six assists and five steals. Bray Renfroe had five points and five steals.
Christian Snipes led ACA with 10 points and four rebounds, followed by Mac Moorer with nine points and a pair of steals and Jayden Jones with eight points, four rebounds and a pair of steals.
Montgomery Academy (10-8) will play host to Trinity on Friday in the annual Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, while ACA (5-12) will travel to St. James.
Catholic 54, Bullock County 47
Jayden Phifer had 18 points, five rebounds, a pair of steals and two assists to lead Catholic past Bullock County 54-47 in a 4A Area 4 game in the Catholic gym on Tuesday.
Catholic (10-5) improved to 2-1 in area play, a game behind Booker T. Washington and a game ahead of Bullock County heading into Friday’s area matchup at home against LAMP.
LJ Green added 16 points, five rebounds, five steals and three assists, followed by Josh Palmer with seven points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots and Brennan Binns with seven points and seven rebounds.
Prattville Christian 55, BTW Magnet 29
Carson Roberson had 16 points and six rebounds to lead the Panthers to a 26-point area win over BTW Magnet in the Robert E. Lee gym on Tuesday.
Cade Segars added 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists, followed by Conner Williams with 12 points and four rebounds and PJ Evans with nine points, five assists and four rebounds. Brady Roberson grabbed six rebounds and Collier Connell scored three points.
PCA (11-10) improved to 2-0 in area play after posting its third consecutive win and climbing over .500 for the first time this season. The Panthers will travel to Plantersville to play Dallas County in an area game on Thursday.
Prattville 74, Robert E. Lee 66
PRATTVILLE -- The Lions had five players in double figures, using a strong second-quarter performance to hold off the Generals 74-66 in an area game at Powell Gym on Tuesday.
Prattville trailed 13-11 at the end of the first quarter, but outscored the Generals 22-12 to take a 33-25 lead into the locker room at the half, a cushion they would maintain for much of the remainder of the game.
Cam Richardson led the Lions with 19 points and four rebounds, followed by Kam Shanks with 14 points, five rebounds and 11 steals, Ty Bryant with 12 points, Kam DeRamus with 11 points and four rebounds and Ryan Booth with 10 points and four rebounds.
Prattville (9-11) improved to 1-3 in area play and will play a pair of huge area games at home next week, facing Dothan on Tuesday and Enterprise on Friday.
Edgewood Academy 55, Autauga Academy 32
ELMORE -- Cooper Hall scored 20 points and Austin Champion had 11 of his 15 points in a decisive third quarter as the Wildcats won their ninth consecutive game in an area win over the Generals in the Edgewood Academy gym.
Hall scored eight points in the first quarter as the Wildcats raced out to a 15-9 lead. Leading 25-20 at the half, Edgewood outscored Autauga 20-6 in the third quarter with the help of Champion, who went over the 1,000-point career mark three games earlier against Evangel.
Evan Peak led the Generals with 12 points.
Edgewood improved to 3-0 in Class AA Region 1 Area 2 play, while Autauga dropped to 1-2.
Edgewood (15-3) remains home to play Evangel Christian School on Thursday, while Autauga (6-7) will travel to Hooper Academy on Thursday.
Lowndes Academy 49, Hooper Academy 32
HOPE HULL -- Clayton Hussey had 26 points, seven rebounds, five assists, six steals and a blocked shot to lead the Rebels past the Colts at Darrell Self Gym on Tuesday.
Luke Lovell added five points, followed by Ashton Yelder with four points and five rebounds, Zach Azar with four points, an assist and a rebound, Trey Thomas with three points and three rebounds, Watters Box with three points, a rebound and a pair of steals, Andrew Myers with two points, three rebounds and a steal and Clay Duncan with two points, three rebounds and a pair of steals.
Lowndes (13-2) will travel to Luverne on Thursday to play Crenshaw Christian Academy in an area game. Hooper will play host to Autauga on Thursday.
Lowndes Academy 64, Meadowview Christian 18
LOWNDESBORO -- Clayton Hussey scored 31 points, along with four assists, four rebounds and eight steals to lead the Rebels past Meadowview Christian in a Class A Region 2 Area 2 game on Monday in the Lowndes gym.
The game was originally scheduled for last Thursday at Meadowview but was postponed by the weather and rescheduled for Monday at Lowndes following tornado damage in the Selma area.
Watters Box added eight points, three rebounds and a steal, followed by Trey Thomas with seven points, an assist and three rebounds, Zach Azar with four points, six rebounds and a pair of blocked shots, Andrew Myers with four points and two steals, Luke Lovell with four points, a pair of assists, two rebounds and four steals, David Calloway with three points, Clay Duncan with three points, seven rebounds, two steals and an assist, Will Brassell with three rebounds and an assist, Reid Owen with a pair of rebounds and Tyler Hollingshead with a rebound.
Lowndes Academy (12-2) improved to 2-0 in area play and will be travels to Luverne on Thursday for an area game with Crenshaw Christian Academy.
GIRLS
Alabama Christian Academy 47, Montgomery Academy 38
Rachel Rine scored 25 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead Alabama Christian to a 47-38 win over Montgomery Academy at Joe Mooty Court on Tuesday night.
It was the first 3A Area 6 win of the year for ACA (1-2). Trinity leads the area at 3-0, followed by St. James at 2-0. Montgomery Academy dropped to 0-3 in area play.
Katelyn Sutton added nine points, six rebounds and four assists for ACA, while Jaide Newkirk had eight points, four rebounds and a pair of blocked shots.
While the game was close for much of the contest, ACA won the area battle at the free-throw line. ACA led 14-13 at the end of the first quarter, 25-22 at the half and 29-24 after three quarters, going 30 of 41 at the free-throw line to secure the victory.
Sophia Cho led Montgomery Academy with 15 points, followed by Caroline Waller with nine. MA struggled at the free-throw line, hitting just 11 of 29 free-throw attempts.
ACA (8-9) travels to St. James on Friday, while Montgomery Academy (1-15) plays host to Trinity in the annual Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.
LAMP 46, Booker T. Washington 43
The Golden Tigers rallied from an 11-point deficit in the fourth quarter to pull out a huge 4A Area 4 win over Booker T. Washington in the LAMP gym on Tuesday.
With the win, LAMP improved to 2-1 in area play, a game behind unbeaten Catholic (3-0) and a game ahead of BTW (1-2). Bullock County is 0-3 after losing to Catholic on Tuesday.
Ariana Cannida led LAMP with 21 points and five steals, followed by Serenity Griffin with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals.
LAMP (13-9) plays at Catholic on Friday night.
Catholic 69, Bullock County 8
Catholic led 16-0 in the first quarter and 42-2 at the half, cruising to a 4A Area 4 win over Bullock County in the Catholic gym on Tuesday to remain undefeated in area play.
With the win, Catholic improved to 3-0 in area play, followed by LAMP at 2-1, Booker T. Washington at 1-2 and Bullock County at 0-3.
Hannah Smith scored 27 points, pulled down 11 rebounds and came away with eight steals to lead the Knights, followed by Heaven Bailey with 10 points, 10 steals and six assists.
Catholic (17-7) will host LAMP on Friday in an area game.
Prattville Christian 57, BTW Magnet 5
Hannah Jones scored 22 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and had five steals to lead the Panthers to an area win over BTW Magnet in the Robert E. Lee gym on Tuesday.
CoCo Thomas added 10 points and five rebounds as PCA improved to 2-0 in area play heading into Thursday’s area game with Dallas County in Plantersville.
Avery Rogers added eight points and five steals for PCA (19-2), followed by Jenna McClendon with six points, Kayden Carr with five points, seven assists and four rebounds and Leah Cate Wilson with four points. Ally Blankinchip had five steals.
Edgewood Academy 49, Autauga Academy 18
ELMORE -- Aubrey Newton scored 18 points and Madison Martin added 12 as the Wildcats remained unbeaten with a 49-18 romp over the Generals on Tuesday in the Edgewood gym.
The Wildcats jumped on their area rivals with an 18-9 run over the first quarter, then held the Generals to a field goal in both the second and third quarters to pull away to a 34-12 lead at the half and a 45-14 lead entering the fourth quarter to improve to 18-0 and 3-0 in Class AA Region 1 Area 2 play.
Edgewood will play host to Evangel Christian School on Thursday, while Autauga will travel to Hooper Academy for an area game on Thursday.
Lowndes Academy 43, Hooper Academy 22
HOPE HULL -- Molly Powell scored 17 points, along with six rebounds, six assists, a pair of steals and a blocked shot to lead the Rebels to a 21-point win over the Colts at Darrell Self Gym on Tuesday.
Cameron Hess added 10 points, five rebounds, a pair of steals and two blocked shots for Lowndes, followed by Haley Briggs with nine points, seven rebounds, three steals and a pair of blocked shots, Catie Wallace Self with five points, five rebounds, two assists and four steals and Haylon Self with two points and four rebounds. Riley Lane had four rebounds, two steals and a block and Abby Lovell had a rebound.
Lowndes (10-5) will travel to Luverne on Thursday to play Crenshaw Christian Academy in an area game. Hooper will play host to Autauga on Thursday.
Lakeside School 50 Chambers Academy 42
EUFAULA -- The Lady Chiefs trailed 20-15 at the half, but exploded with 25 points in the third period and held on for an eight-point victory in a tough Class AA Region 1 Area 1 victory on Tuesday night.
Chloe Helms led the Chiefs with 28 points, followed by Sophie Seaborn with nine and Jayden Green with seven.
Park Crossing 64, Catholic 57
Catholic pulled within a basket on two separate occasions in the fourth quarter but could never catch Park Crossing, losing to the 6A Thunderbirds 64-57 in the MLK Tournament at Park Crossing on Monday.
Hannah Smith led the Knights with 28 points and 18 rebounds, followed by Allyse Rudolph with 18 points and Heaven Bailey with seven points and five assists.
Catholic trailed 23-21 after one quarter and 36-31 at halftime, but closed the gap in the final minutes to a basket on two occasions.
Saniya Jackson scored 42 for the Thunderbirds.
Catholic (17-7) had a four-game winning streak snapped with the loss. The Knights host LAMP on Friday.
Lowndes Academy 77, Meadowview Christian 11

WRESTLING
Tallassee advances to Duals finals; Wetumpka falls
Tallassee held off Gulf Shores to advance to the Class 5A State Wrestling Duals tournament on Tuesday, earning a 32-29 victory.
The win gives the Tigers their first trip to the finals since the tournament was created in 2017. They will face Jasper on Friday at 5:30 p.m. at the Bill Harris Arena in Birmingham.
Wetumpka was denied a chance to win the Class 6A championship, falling to Mountain Brook on Wednesday. The Indians will compete in the consolation round against Hartselle on Friday morning at the Bill Harris Arena.
St. James travels to Ranburne on Wednesday with a spot in the Class 1A-4A finals on the line.The Trojans defeated Prattville Christian in the quarterfinals.
