MONDAY HOOPS: Trinity girls too much for Elmore County; Lee-Scott boys wallop PCA

Trinity 74, Elmore County 18

ECLECTIC -- Emory Causey scored 20 points to lead the Wildcats to an easy 74-18 victory in the Elmore County High gym on Monday afternoon.

Maddie Smith added 19 points, 11 assists, six steals and six rebounds, followed by Ellie Causey with 13 points and Lizzie Causey with 11 points and seven rebounds.

Trinity (6-2) travels to Brew Tech on Monday.  

Evangel Christian School 43, Evangel Christian Academy 41

SELMA -- The Lions dropped a heartbreaker to the Lightning on Monday, losing 43-41 in the opening round of the Morgan Academy Turk3y Day Classic.

Evangel Christian Academy (2-2) will face the host team, Morgan Academy, in the second round of the tournament on Tuesday.

Symone McNeil led the Lions with 16 points, followed by Erica Burton with 12 and Mariah Curry with 11.

 

BOYS BASKETBALL

Lee-Scott Academy  81, Prattville Christian 26

The Warriors rolled to an easy victory over the Panthers in the opening round of the Coach Larry Chapman Foundation Tip-Off Tournament, defeating PCA 81-26 on Monday.

Cody Chapman led the Panthers with seven points and four rebounds, followed by Easton Miller with six points and Carter Fiacco with five. Justin Chapman and Wade Mora each had four points and five rebounds. Sam Wheeler grabbed six rebounds.

PCA (2-3) will play Pike Road in the second round of the tournament on Tuesday at 4 p.m. Lee-Scott will play at 4 p.m. as well, facing Alabama Christian.

 

Evangel Christian School 57, Evangel Christian Academy 43

SELMA -- The Lions dropped the opening game of Morgan Academy’s Turkey Day Classic on Monday, losing to Evangel Christian School 57-43.

Evangel Christian Academy (2-1) will play the host team, Morgan Academy, in a second-round game on Tuesday.

Mekhi Williams scored 12 points to lead the Lions. Tylon Shine and Jordan Duncan both added eight points.

 

Hooper Academy 60, Snook Christian 21

HOPE HULL -- Christ McCoy led a balanced attack with 14 points as the Colts jumped out to an 18-4 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 34-12 halftime lead over Snook at Darrell Self Gym.

Nolan Cole and Luke Moseley each added 10 points for Hooper, followed by Tre Davenport and Jeremy Griggs with eight points each.

Tyler Shaffer led Snook Christian with 10 points.   

 

Trinity 54, Elmore County 42

ECLECTIC -- Cooper Bernier scored nine of his 11 points in the first quarter as the Wildcats jumped out to a 20-5 lead and cruised to victory over the Panthers in the Elmore County High gym on Monday.

John Morris led the Wildcats with 14 points, followed by Bernier and Kamari Hutson with 11 points each and Brady Bennett with seven points.

Trinity (3-1) travels to Brew Tech on Monday.
