PREP HOOPS: Prattville Christian girls stay undefeated

GIRLS

Prattville Christian 60, Winfield 22

WINFIELD -- Ella Jane Connell surpassed the 2,000 point mark in her varsity career and now stands 124 points away from becoming the school's all-time leading scorer after scoring 13 points and handing out five assists in a 60-22 win over the Pirates in the Winfield Christmas Classic on Tuesday.

Hannah Jones added 17 points, five rebounds and five steals, followed by CoCo Thomas with 13 points and five rebounds. Avery Rogers added five points and four rebounds. Kayden Carr scored four points and Makenna Simpson and Jenna McClendon each scored three points. Nya Davis grabbed four rebounds. 

PCA (20-0) will play host to Brew Tech on Jan. 4.

 

Montgomery Academy 56, Freeport (Fla.) 51

FREEPORT, Fla. -- Virginia Meacham had 14 points and Chloe Johnson added 10 as the Eagles defeated Freeport High in the Hilton Sandestin Beach Blowout on Tuesday. 

Hayes Jenkins added nine points for MA (7-5), which continues play in the tournament on Wednesday against Ezell Harding. 

Sylvania 43, Pike Road 39

HUNTSVILLE -- Jazz Johnson scored a game-high 23 points but Pike Road dropped the opening round game of the Randolph Tournament 43-39 on Tuesday.

BOYS

Marion County 56, Prattville Christian 52

WINFIELD -- Carson Roberson led the Panthers with 18 points and four rebounds as PCA dropped its final game in the Winfield Christmas Tournament on Tuesday. 

Camron Coleman added 15 points, followed by Cade Segars with eight points and four assists. Conner Williams added five points and took three charges. PJ Evans scored four points. Brady Roberson dished out five assists and Brady Hughes grabbed five rebounds. 

PCA (7-11) will play host to Brew Tech on Jan. 4.

BOYS

William Blount 63, Montgomery Academy 47

FREEPORT, Fla. -- Jamal Cooper had 13 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals as the Eagles dropped their opening round game of the Hilton Sandestin Beach Blowout to William Blount High of Maryville, Tenn., on Monday. 

Nigel Walker added nine points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while DJ Vinson added eight points and grabbed nine rebounds. 

Montgomery Academy (2-4) will play Freeport (Fla.) High in the second round on Tuesday, with the winner immediately advancing to a game against the Starr’s Mill-Forsyth Central winner. 

Winfield 61, Prattville Christian 40

WINFIELD -- Carson Roberson led the Panthers with 17 points as PCA was turned back in the second round of the Winfield Christmas Classic by the Pirates on Monday. 

Brady Roberson, Cade Segars and Camron Coleman each had six points. Brady Hughes grabbed five rebounds and Conner Williams and PJ Evans each grabbed four rebounds. 

PCA (7-10) will play Marion County on Tuesday at 3:40 p.m.

Prattville Christian 64, Phillips 30

WINFIELD -- Carson Roberson had 14 points, four assists and four rebounds to lead the Panthers to an opening round win over Phillips-Bear Creek in the Winfield Christmas Classic on Monday. 

Cade Segars added 12 points and four assists, followed by PJ Evans with 10 points and six assists, Coleman Hunter with nine points and 12 rebounds and Conner Williams with eight points and nine rebounds. Camron Coleman scored five points. Brady Hughes added four points and seven rebounds. Brady Roberson grabbed four rebounds. 

PCA (7-9) advanced to a second-round game against Winfield on Monday night.

GIRLS

Prattville Christian 62, Hamilton 58

WINFIELD -- Playing late into the night, the Lady Panthers rallied from a 15-point deficit in the third quarter to remain undefeated with a 62-58 win over Hamilton in the Winfield Christmas Classic on Monday night.

Avery Rogers led the Lady Panthers’ comeback with 24 points, including six 3 pointers, and four assists. Hannah Jones added 19 points and 15 rebounds. Ella Jane Connell had 15 points and six assists. CoCo Thomas had four points and nine rebounds. Kayden Carr grabbed four rebounds. 

PCA (19-0) will face Winfield on Tuesday at 1 p.m.

Prattville Christian 55, Sulligent 41

WINFIELD -- In a battle of undefeated teams, CoCo Thomas led the Lady Panthers past Sulligent with 16 points and 13 rebounds in a 55-41 win in the Winfield Christmas Classic on Monday.

Ella Jane Connell added 13 points, four rebounds and four assists. Avery Rogers had 11 points, five rebounds and four assists. Hannah Jones added 10 points and eight rebounds. Sarah Williams scored three points. PCA (18-0) advanced to a second-round game against Hamilton on Monday night.
