PREP HOOPS: St. James, Catholic win in LAMP tourney

LAMP 40, Autaugaville 23

LAMP rebounded from its first loss of the season with a strong performance down the stretch to defeat Autaugaville 40-23 in the LAMP Veterans’ Day Tournament on Saturday morning.

Ariana Cannida led LAMP with 12 points, shooting 10 of 11 from the free-throw line. Grayson Dickert added nine points and five steals.

Makasiah Burns led Autaugaville with 12 points.

 

Elmore County 54, LAMP 49 (OT)

Emily Mason scored 35 of her 37 points in the second half, sealing an overtime win against LAMP by hitting 13 of 15 free-throw attempts to give Elmore County a 54-49 win on Saturday afternoon in the Veterans’ Day Tournament in the LAMP gym.

Elmore County lost its opening game in the tournament, falling 48-41 to Autaugaville, but rebounded with wins over Sidney Lanier and LAMP.  

Ariana Cannida led LAMP with 25 points. Grayson Dickert and Kaylei Mixon each had seven rebounds.

LAMP (2-2) will play at Alabama Christian Academy on Monday.

 

St. James 48, Loachapoka 26

Ava Card scored 19 points to lead the Trojans to a 48-26 win over Loachapoka in the St. James Tip Off Tournament on Saturday.

KK Hall added 15 points, followed by Natalie Barton with nine.

 

St. James 69, Opelika 39

Ava Card led all scorers with 32 points as the Trojans closed out the St. James Tip Off Tournament unbeaten on Saturday afternoon.

KK Hall hit five 3-pointers and finished with 17 points, followed by Natalie Barton with 12.

St. James (4-0) will play host to Catholic on Thursday.  Trinity 76, McAdory 18

ALABASTER -- Emma Kate Smith scored 20 points and had five steals to lead the Wildcats to a lopsided win in the Tip-Off Challenge tournament opener.

Jayden Mitchel scored 18 points to go with six rebounds and five steals, Francie Morris had 17 points, five rebounds and five steals and Maddie Smith had 10 points, six assists, five steals and five rebounds.

 

Trinity 65, Lauderdale County 57

KIMBERLY -- Francie Morris scored a career-high 31 points to lead the Wildcats past Lauderdale County on Saturday in the Tip-Off Challenge at Mortimer Jordan High.

Mya Moskowitz scored 12 points with four steals, Emma Kate Smith added 10 points and Maddie Smith had 10 points along with seven rebounds, four assists and five steals.  

Trinity (4-0) travels to LaFayette on Tuesday.

 

Catholic 69, Sidney Lanier 12

Hannah Smith scored 15 points and came up with five steals to lead the Knights to a romp over the 6A Poets in the LAMP Veterans’ Day Tournament on Saturday morning.

Heaven Bailey added 12 points and nine steals and Allyse Rudolph had 12 points for Catholic, which improved to 2-0 and faced Wetumpka later in the afternoon.

 

Catholic 58, Wetumpka 26

Hannah Smith scored 16 points and pulled down seven rebounds to help the Knights stay perfect with a 58-26 win over the 6A Indians on Saturday afternoon in the LAMP Veterans’ Day Tournament.

Heaven Bailey added 12 points, six steals and five assists, followed by Grace Levanda with 10 points.

Catholic (3-0) travels to Calhoun on Monday and St. James on Thursday.

 

Prattville Christian 53, Pell City 48

Avery Rogers led the Lady Panthers with 16 points, six assists and four rebounds in a 53-48 win over Pell City in the St. James’ Tipoff Tournament on Saturday. 

Kayden Carr added 15 points, six assists and four rebounds, followed by CoCo Thomas with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Hannah Jones added nine points, nine rebounds and five blocked shots.

PCA (2-1) will play host to Sylacauga on Friday.

 

Stanhope Elmore 54, BTW Magnet 41

Ari Gilchrist poured in 37 points and Carman Vergara added 10, accounting for all but seven of the Mustangs’ points as Stanhope Elmore opened the 2022-23 season with a 54-41 win over BTW Magnet on Saturday afternoon.

Stanhope Elmore (1-0) returns home for a full week, including the home opener on Tuesday against Chilton County, followed by home games with Robert E. Lee on Thursday and Tallassee on Friday.
