PREP HOOPS: St. James girls topples Catholic; Trinity boys defeat Brew Tech

GIRLS
St. James 75, Catholic 65
The venue was different, but the results were the same.
For the second time in a five-day span, St. James and Catholic faced off, with the Trojans winning 75-65 in a hard-fought win in the St. James gym on Monday night.
The two teams met on Wednesday in the championship game of the Coach Larry Chapman Foundation Tip-Off Tournament at Montgomery Academy, with the Trojans winning 55-47.
In Monday’s game, Morgan Lilly scored 22 points and had four steals and four assists to lead the Trojans. Kaitlin Mitchell added 19 points and five rebounds, while Natalie Barton had a double double with 18 points and 12 rebounds along with five assists. Jordyn McRae added eight points, eight rebounds, four steals and four assists.
For Catholic, Hannah Smith scored 27 points, followed by Heaven Bailey with 20 points and Kierstin Green with 11 points.
St. James (8-1) will return to action on Tuesday with a home game against Prattville Christian. Catholic (3-2) will travel to Montgomery Academy on Friday.
Trinity 72, Brew Tech 36
Mya Moskowitz scored 20 points and added four steals and four rebounds to lead the Wildcats in a 36-point drubbing of Brew Tech on Monday night.
Maddie Smith had 15 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals, while Francie Morris tallied a triple double with 15 points, 10 assists, 10 steals and seven rebounds.
Trinity (7-2) won its seventh consecutive game and will be back in action on Friday against St. James.
Evangel Christian Academy 39, Macon East Academy 29
Mariah Curry and Erica Burton each had 12 points and Symone McNeil added nine as Evangel Christian defeated the Knights on Monday.
The Lions (4-2) return to action at Edgewood Academy on Friday.
Prattville 52, Pike Road 44
PIKE ROAD -- Jaina Misigah scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Lions to a 52-44 win over the Patriots on Monday in the Pike Road gym.
Audrey Blaine led Pike Road with 11 points, while Madison Triche chipped in nine points and 14 rebounds.
Pike Road (5-3) travels to Brew Tech on Thursday.
Auburn 79, Montgomery Academy 31
AUBURN -- Eighth grader Bailey Davis scored eight points and senior Olivia Smith made her 2024-25 debut with seven points as the Eagles fell to Class 7A Auburn 79-31 on Monday in the Auburn gym.
Sophomores Kaci Armistead and E.G. Hines both added five points each, while sophomore Bennett Britt added four points and collected six offensive rebounds.
The Eagles collected a season-high 17 offensive rebounds against the Tigers.
Montgomery Academy (1-4) returns home to play Brew Tech on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
Hooper Academy 54, Morgan Academy 26
HOPE HULL -- Grace Seale and Katie Robinson each scored 13 points to lead the Colts to a 54-26 win over the Senators at Darrell Self Gym on Monday.
Seale also had five rebounds, six steals and an assist, while Robinson finished with four rebounds and a steal.
Ashbee Norman added 12 points, six rebounds, four steals and a pair of assists. Jade Taylor had five points and four rebounds.
Hooper (6-0) will play host to the Tri-County Classic on Thursday and Friday, facing Macon East on Thursday and Morgan on Friday.
BOYS
Trinity 65, Brew Tech 54
Cooper Bernier scored 18 points and John Morris added 15 as the Wildcats won a hard-fought contest over the Rams in the Brew Tech gym on Monday night.
The game was tied 9-9 at the end of the first quarter when Morris went to work, scoring eight of his 15 points in the quarter as the Wildcats held a 27-26 lead at the half. Bernier scored 13 of his 18 points in the second half as Trinity expanded their lead to 47-42 heading into the final quarter.
Kamari Hutson and Brady Bennett each added eight points for the Wildcats.
Trinity (4-1) travels to St. James on Friday before returning home to play Providence Christian on Saturday.
Alabama Christian 68, Prattville Christian 47
PRATTVILLE -- Alabama Christian fired out with 19 first-quarter points and added 23 in the second quarter to take a 26-point lead at the half on the way to a 68-47 win in the Prattville Christian Academy gym on Monday night.
Mc Moorer led the Eagles (4-1) with 16 points, including 11 in the first half, along with three steals. Jayden Jones added 13 points, all in the first half, along with four steals and three rebounds. Sam Davidson and Christian Snipes each scoring nine points, with Davidson contributing three rebounds, and AC Walters adding eight points.
Cody Chapman led the Panthers with 16 points, four rebounds and four assists, followed by Carter Fiacco with 13 points and Ethan Girlie with nine. Wade Mora added six points and nine rebounds, Sam Wheeler had three points and Justin Chapman grabbed five rebounds and had four steals. Easton Miller grabbed four rebounds.
PCA (2-6) will travel to play St. James on Tuesday.
In the junior varsity game, CJ Robinson had 18 points and 20 rebounds to lead PCA to a 34-31 win over ACA. Ethan Kiefer added eight points, nine rebounds and four assists. Murray Wright had eight points and seven rebounds. Spencer Wilson added five assists and four rebounds. Easton Carr grabbed five rebounds for PCA (1-4), which travels to St. James on Tuesday.
In the middle school game, ACA defeated PCA 42-27. Easton Carr led the Panthers with 11 points. PCA (0-8) will travel to play Trinity on Thursday.
Hooper Academy 54, Morgan Academy 42
HOPE HULL -- The Colts used a 21-point second quarter to run past the Senators 54-42 on Monday in Darrell Self Gym.
Nolan Cole scored 12 of his 15 points in the second quarter as Hooper rallied from a 9-7 deficit with a 21-point outburst to take a 28-20 lead at the half.
Dallas Henderson and Kaleb Jackson each added 14 points, with Jackson scoring 10 of his 14 in the second half.
Cade Henderson led Morgan with 13 points, followed by Speedy Parnell with 12.
Hooper (5-0) will play in the Tri-County Tournament later this week.
Evangel Christian Academy 58, Macon East Academy 46
Tylon Shine scored a game high 19 points to lead Evangel to the win over Macon East.
Shine grabbed four rebounds, two steals and blocked two shots.
Mekhi Williams added nine points, two assists, three rebounds and three steals while Jordan Duncan finished with eight points, four assists, three steals and a block and Markeith Fallin chipped in eight points, grabbed eight rebounds and three steals.
The Lions (4-1) will travel to Edgewood Academy on Friday.
Auburn 82, Montgomery Academy 62
AUBURN -- Montgomery Academy suffered its first loss of the season as the Class 3A Eagles fell to the Class 7A Tigers 82-62 in the Auburn gym on Monday night.
Skyler Stovall led the Eagles with 23 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals, followed by DJ Vinson with 16 points, 10 rebounds and a pair of blocked shots.
Brewer Welch added eight points, three rebounds and four assists and Jarrett Friendly scored seven points, grabbed six rebounds, had three steals and blocked two shots.
Montgomery Academy (5-1) returns home to host Brew Tech on Tuesday night.
