PREP RECAP: Catholic softball wins on Senior Day; Trinity girls win golf sectional

STAFF REPORT

It was Senior Day at Catholic for the Knights’ softball team, but seventh grader Haley Ishman couldn’t resist helping her older teammates to a 4-3 win over Pike Road on Monday afternoon.

Ishman’s only hit of the game was a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh, the first career home run of her varsity career, that tied the game at 3-3.

Mally Barranco scored on senior CC Crawford’s grounder in the eighth inning to cap the Knights’ comeback in walk-off fashion.

Senior pitcher Carissa Gilbert struck out seven to pick up the win and went 3 for 4 with an RBI. Jennifer Looney drove in the other run leading up to the seventh inning, going 2 for 4 at the plate.

In addition to Crawford and Gilbert, the Knights also honored seniors Mallory Hildebrand and Auburn Wilcoxson.
