PREP UPDATE: Catholic, Trinity girls get convincing wins

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Catholic 72, Alabama Christian 45

The Knights jumped out to a 19-9 first quarter lead and a 43-18 halftime lead to open the 2024-25 season with a 72-45 win over ACA in the Eagles’ gym on Tuesday night.

Hannah Smith led Catholic with 22 points, 14 rebounds and three assists, followed by Kierstyn Green with 15 points, eight rebounds and three assists.

Heaven Bailey added 12 points, seven rebounds, 11 assists and five steals, Lela Rogers had 10 points and Grace Levanda had nine points and five rebounds.

Katelyn Sutton led ACA with 12 points and Jaide Newkirk added 11.

Catholic (1-0) will play Marbury in the first round of the Coach Larry Chapman Foundation Tournament at Montgomery Academy on Monday at 11:30 a.m.

ACA (0-1) will play host to Loachapoka on Thursday.

 

Trinity 72, Enterprise 46

ENTERPRISE -- The Class 4A Wildcats got 23 points, nine assists, five rebounds and four steals from Maddie Smith to defeat the Class 7A Wildcats 72-46 in the Enterprise gym on Tuesday night.

Mya Moskowitz added 15 points and four assists, Ellie Causey had 12 points and four rebounds, Lilly Smith had eight points and eight rebounds and Emory Causey had eight points.

Trinity (4-2) returns home to host St. James on Thursday at Captain Jack Court.

 

Pike Road 56, Chilton County 20

CLANTON -- Audrey Blaine scored 14 points to help the Patriots remain unbeaten with a 56-20 win over the Tigers in the Chilton County gym on Tuesday night.

Madison Triche added 12 points for Pike Road, followed by Tomeria Blythe with eight.

Pike Road (3-0) will face Prattville Christian in the first round of the Coach Larry Chapman Foundation Tournament on Monday at Montgomery Academy at 2:30 p.m.

 

Hooper Academy 54, Abbeville Christian 41

HOPE HULL -- Grace Seale had 26 points, five steals and five rebounds to lead the Colts to a 54-41 win over the Generals in the 2024-25 home opener at Darrell Self Gym on Tuesday.  

Katie Robinson added 14 points, two rebounds and two steals. Ashbee Norman had seven rebounds, four steals and five assists.

Hooper Academy (2-0) will travel to Evergreen to play Sparta Academy on Friday before returning home to play Snook Christian on Monday.

 

Prattville Christian 69, Greenville 26

PRATTVILLE -- Kayden Carr led the Panthers with 26 points, nine rebounds and four steals as PCA rolled to a 69-26 win over the Class 5A Tigers on Tuesday.

Ally Blankinchip added 18 points, 11 rebounds, six steals and five assists, followed by Jenna McClendon with 12 points and four rebounds.

Leah Cate Wilson added four points and five rebounds, Baylee Rogers had three points and seven rebounds and Chelsea Cutler had three points and four rebounds. Laney Little added three points.

PCA (4-1) will play host to Holt on Friday in the first area game of the season.

 

BOYS BASKETBALL

Greenville 79, Prattville Christian 59

PRATTVILLE -- Cody Chapman led the Panthers with 20 points and four rebounds in a 79-59 loss to the Tigers on Tuesday in the PCA gym.

Carter Fiacco added 13 points, seven rebounds and four steals for PCA, followed by Easton Miller with 12 points and seven rebounds, Sam Wheeler with six points and five assists, Justin Chapman with four points and eight rebounds and Wade Mora with four points and five rebounds.

PCA (1-2) will play host to Holt on Friday in the first area game of the season.

In the junior varsity game, CJ Robinson had 16 points, 19 rebounds and five steals in PCA’s 55-30 loss to the Tigers. Murray Wright added six points and five rebounds, followed by Ethan Kiefer with five points. PCA (0-3) will host Holt on Friday.

 

St. James 57, BTW Magnet 30

Chase Perry scored 19 points and Donald Evans added 18 as the Trojans opened the 2024-25 season with a 57-30 win over BTW on Monday in the St. James gym.

Perry and Evans combined for 21 first-half points as the Trojans jumped out to a 17-6 lead at the end of the first quarter and 33-14 at the half.

Jordan Williams added eight points for St. James.

Michael Reese led BTW Magnet with 12 points, followed by Tristan McCants with eight.

St. James (1-0) will remain home to play Autauga Academy on Tuesday before traveling to Trinity on Thursday.

 

WRESTLING

PCA opens the season with loss at Pike Road

PIKE ROAD -- The Prattville Christian Academy wrestling team traveled to Pike Road to open their wrestling season and fell to the Patriots 63-16 on Tuesday.

Spencer Perkins, Logan Post and Ryan Lueck won matches for the Panther wrestling team.  

The Panthers do not return to the mat until Dec. 5th when they travel to Montgomery Catholic High School to wrestle in a quad match against the Knights, Dora and Houston Academy.
