MARBURY -- Kaytie Chandler threw four touchdown passes to lead Prattville to its 10th consecutive victory in a convincing 32-6 win over Lee in the second round of the 6A-7A playoffs, helping the second-year program advance to the quarterfinals for the second consecutive season.

Prattville (15-2) will travel to Trussville to play Hewitt-Trussville, a 27-0 winner over Bob Jones, in the 6A-7A quarterfinals next week.

“Obviously, being on the road, things are going to be different,” Prattville’s Lanieya Page said, “but we set a bar last year. We have all this talent that God has blessed us with and I think this whole team knows good and well that we’ve been in it once and we can do it again.”

Prattville defeated the Huskies 30-0 on Aug. 24 in a season-opening tournament at Hoover, but Prattville coach Brian Pittman said the Huskies are a much-improved team since that meeting.

“We haven’t shied away from expectations,” Pittman said. “We want to be back in the semifinals with a chance to go to the finals. It’s going to be very tough. It’s going to be us against everybody whether we have to go to Hewitt-Trussville or Bob Jones. We’re going to have to play really well next week, but we’ve been on the road, technically, all year if we’re here at Marbury so I don’t think that’s going to be an issue for us.”

Prattville dominated from start to finish, allowing a pair of big plays by Lee’s Kariah Irvin and Imani Taylor as both players managed to keep their flags intact on runs through the Prattville defense, but the remainder of the time the Lions held their ground.

“I think we came together very well,” Page said. “(Defensive coordinator) Coach (Jason) Fisher helped us adjust, but we didn’t really make any changes. Honestly, we moved a couple of things in our normal defense, practiced that all week and we came out and executed.”

Prattville scored on its first possession, a short drive capped by an 18-yard pass from Chandler to Page for a 6-0 lead. Chandler was injured early in the second quarter and replaced by Hartley McCay, whose fourth-and-goal pass from the 16 found Maty Cate Lindsey in the end zone for a 13-0 halftime lead.

Chandler returned in the second half and threw touchdown passes to Page and Lindsey for a 26-0 lead before Lee scored on a 32-yard reception and run through the Lions’ defense by Taylor to make it 26-6. Prattville promptly drove the length of the field and Chandler connected with Lindsey in the end zone again with 5:35 left in the game.

“I think in the first half we had a couple of drives inside (Lee territory) that we didn’t execute but then (offensive coordinator) Coach (Mike) Battle did a good job of making adjustments in the second half,” Pittman said. “I thought our blockers picked it up -- they started rushing three a little bit -- and we picked it up and were able to get it out of Kaytie’s hands quick and Lanieya caught a couple and Mady Cate Lindsey caught a few and that helped us put that thing away in the second half.”

Chandler completed 14 of 19 passes for 185 yards and four touchdowns, while McCay was 2 of 4 for 21 yards and a touchdown. Lindsey had six receptions for 58 yards and three touchdowns, while Page had five catches for 79 yards and two touchdowns.
