PRESS PICKS (Week 12): One loss teams getting poll positions

Two polls into the College Football playoff talk, we are already getting into scenarios that should work towards an acceptable solution … whatever that is.
We love to play this game. Well before all the cards have been drawn. If only there was a way to make money at this playoff game of musical chairs.
One thing is different. Two of the “name” teams, Alabama and Clemson, are out (and the celebration has begun in the Pac 12 and Big 12 because of it). The loser of Ohio State- Michigan game, more than likely, will be out.
But what about Tennessee? They are the pseudo “Alabama” here since the Vols will not be in the SEC Championship game and could sneak in as an “at-large” team that didn’t win the conference title.
If we get to the final week of the season with a half-dozen one-loss teams, chaos will ensue. If that’s what we want, then pull for the likes of USC, UCLA or Oregon to finish out with no more losses. The Ohio State-Michigan loser falls in the final minute. Ole Miss wins out the rest of the way and is sitting around No. 5 or 6.
Tulane? Nah, we aren’t ready for that yet.
North Carolina and Clemson play for the ACC title with each having just one loss. There are plenty of opportunities for a one-loss team to make a case. The cry will be loud and coherent.
And Bama fans can sit and smile knowing they weren’t the cause of it - for once.
After 11 weeks, Doug Amos stays on top of the panel with the lead stretched out once again.
