Chris Adams-Wall  admits he is a believer...

Events happen for a reason.

His stay in Montgomery as a member of the Biscuits radio crew for the last eight-plus years is proof.

“I don’t call it a premonition but there were strange things that gave me pause,” he said. “Just funny things told me to hang on in Montgomery.”

Early in his tenure, as he was contemplating if staying on the job as the play-by-play voice of the Biscuits was the right choice, Adams-Wall was in Los Angeles and met Biscuits player Justin Williams at a restaurant and it stopped him in his tracks.

That was just a little too strange to run into him thousands of miles away from home.

A year later and still considering his future, Adams-Wall learned that one of his favorite songs he used to sing - “Seven Bridges Road" - was about old Woodley Road in south Montgomery.

All of it was a sign to stay.He hasn’t looked back.

On Sunday, June 18, Adams Wall called his last Biscuits game after seven-and-a-half years as the radio voice of the team.

Despite the culture change for a guy from Maine coming to the Deep South, he made Montgomery his home and was happy he did.

“It means so much to so many people,” he explained. “This franchise is so special. I can’t thank the listeners enough.”

Adams-Wall began his tenure with the Biscuits’ parent club, Tampa Bay, on Thursday as the team’s host of the pregame and postgame shows. His timing, at least for who he covers, couldn’t be better as the Rays are enjoying one of the best seasons in franchise history.

More good news - he’s already covered several of the players on the team.

“This will be something that is completely different than what I’m used to but I am excited,” he said. “I happen to be going to a team that happens to have the best record in baseball. There are definitely players there that I know. That part of this is pretty cool.

“I was spoiled silly because the Biscuits made the playoffs every year I was there. Now I might get to cover my first Major League playoff series so that is pretty amazing.”

It may sound strange but he says he loved the bus rides with the team, getting to know the managers and players through the years and he has developed friendships that will last long after he is out of the game.

“I really enjoyed my time talking with Morgan (Ensberg, Biscuits manager) after the games,” he said. “I will miss those moments. And the same is true with the staff here, the workers and everybody in the press box. It’s been a great atmosphere. I really have enjoyed my time in this part of the world. People are just great here.”

While Adams-Wall couldn’t pick out one moment that stood out, he said the competitiveness of the team was beyond measure.

“It made it fun to be a part of this,” he said. “I expect that to continue. I know the team hasn’t gotten off to a great start this year but you watch… they will be in the thick of the playoff race before it’s over.”
