SEC Media Days is set for next week in Dallas
By GRAHAM DUNN
The Southeastern Conference has announced the attendees for the annual Kickoff Media Days set to begin Monday in Dallas.
With 16 teams, there is also an adjustment to the four-day schedule.
As before, the event runs through Thursday at the Omni Dallas Hotel.
For all but three years (1985-2017), the event was held in Birmingham sans the year of 2020, when the event was canceled due to COVID-19. Last year, the event was held in Nashville and before that the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.
This is the first time Media Days will be held west of the Mississippi River. That is due to the arrival of newcomers Oklahoma and Texas.
Three players will accompany the head coach for each school. That number includes three new head coaches, featuring Alabama’s Kalen DeBoer, who replaces the legendary Nick Saban after 17 years.
DeBoer and the players from Alabama will take to the podiums on Wednesday. Quarterback Jalen Milroe, offensive lineman Tyler Booker and defensive back Malachi Moore will join the new Bama head coach.
Hugh Freeze and the Auburn contingency will arrive on Thursday. Players scheduled to attend are quarterback Payton Thorne, linebacker EugeneAsante and defensive end Keldric Faulk.
SEC commissioner Greg Sankey will make his annual state of the conference address on Monday morning to begin the festivities.
River Region Sports and Score 94&Hit 106 radio will have full coverage of the event beginning Monday.
