Montgomery Academy boys and girls win 3A Section 1 meet

DAPHNE -- Both the Montgomery Academy boys’ and girls’ cross country teams won the Section 1 meet at Loxley Municipal Park, qualifying for the upcoming state cross country meet in Moulton on Nov. 9.

The top four teams, along with the top six individuals not on qualifying teams, earn an invitation to the state meet.

In the boys’ division, Montgomery Academy won the section with 33 points, followed by St. Luke’s (41), Prattville Christian (131) St. James (159) and Trinity (159).

Trinity senior John Thomas Mathison finished in first place with a time of 17:07.49, followed by St. Luke’s sophomore Zachary Robinson (18:02.00) and Montgomery Academy senior Price McLemore (18:02.21).

McLemore’s teammates were close behind, with Bo Johnston placing fifth, Matt Cone finishing seventh, Trey White earning eighth, Frank Williford placing 10th and Ian Farley finishing 11th.

In the girls’ division, Montgomery Academy placed first with 34 points, far ahead of St. James (63), Cottage Hill (82) and St. Luke’s (83). Prattville Christian finished in seventh place, followed by Trinity in eighth.

Montgomery Academy sophomore Elle Ingram won the event with a time of 20:09.92, followed by St. James’ sophomore Elley Goff (20:15.40), St. James’ eighth grader Molly Phillips (20:46.94), Montgomery Academy seventh grader Lucy Hubbard (21:45.32), Montgomery Academy freshman Livia Dwyer (21:57.46) and Montgomery Academy freshman Bea Farley (22:09.31).

 

FOOTBALL

Autauga Academy 20, Beulah 14

PRATTVILLE -- The Generals won their sixth consecutive game on Thursday, closing out the regular season with a 20-14 win over Class 3A Beulah.

Bryant Dupree, Kee Cook Williams and Damion Dickerson all scored touchdowns for the Generals.

Autauga Academy (9-1) will play host to Georgiana in the first round of the Class 1A state playoffs next Friday night.
