THURSDAY PREPS: MA, LAMP earn wins in FCA tourney; Macon East shuts out Lowndes

BASEBALL
Montgomery Academy 3, Trinity 1
Andrew Hosein pitched a one hitter over five innings, propeling the Eagles to a 3-1 win over Trinity in the 32nd annual Jason Armstrong Memorial FCA Baseball Tournament at Riverwalk Stadium on Thursday.
Hosein struck out five in five innings, then turned the game over to William Marks, who allowed a run and two hits over the remainder of the game.
Marks, Paxton Haigler, Chapman Baker, Kingston Nelson and Vincent Desautels each collected a hit for the Eagles. Finley Haigler, Nelson and Desautels each drove in a run.
Xavier Boswell had a hit and the lone run for Trinity.
Montgomery Academy (4-1) will close out the tournament on Monday with a game against LAMP at Riverwalk Stadium at 6 p.m.
LAMP 18, P. Julian 1 (4 inn)
The Golden Tigers got two doubles and five RBIs from Oliver Blackburn and two hits from Caden Carpenter and Elliott Farrior in the win over the Phoenix in the FCA Jason Armstrong Memorial Tournament at Riverwalk Stadium on Thursday.
Luke Littlejohn drove in two runs while Jack Pritchell and Chase Carpenter each drove in a run. Blackburn was the winning pitcher while Charles Brooks got the save.
Ja’Marcus Tallie drove in the lone Julian run with a sacrifice fly. Braylon Motsey had the only hit for the Phoenix.
Macon East Academy 1, Lowndes Academy 0
CECIL -- Carter Hopson drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh for a walk-off win as the Knights edged Lowndes Academy 1-0 on Tuesday.
Jackson Todd earned the win for the Knights, holding the Rebels to just one hit in seven innings while striking out 14. Todd and Lowndes starter Ashton Yelder were locked in a pitching duel for most of the game as Yelder went five innings, allowing three hits while striking out nine and walking one.
Thad McKinney, Micah Andrews and Hopson collected the hits for Macon East.
Macon East (4-3) remains home to play Hope Christian on Thursday.
Edgewood Academy 17, Hooper Academy 1
ELMORE -- Ellis Flemming drew a bases-loaded walk in the first inning to give the Colts a quick 1-0 lead, but the rest of the day belonged to Edgewood as the Wildcats rallied for a 17-1 victory on Tuesday.
The Wildcats scored 17 runs on five hits in the bottom half of the first inning to take command of the game.
For Hooper, Jeremy Griggs, Flemming and Cope Russell each had a hit. Landon Smith and Cooper Freeman each drove in three runs for Edgewood.
SOFTBALL
Prattville Christian 12, Stanhope Elmore 5
MILLBROOK -- Holley Beth Rollan had a triple and a double, driving in five runs, to lead the Panthers to a 12-5 win over Stanhope Elmore on Tuesday.
Laura Beth NeSmith picked up the win in the circle, allowing just two hits over five innings while striking out nine. Rollan pitched the final two innings.
In addition to Rollan, the Panthers got offensive help from Saniyah Weaver, Megan Masters and Caralee Janes, with each contributing two hits. Sarah Payton Schmidt had two RBIs.
PCA (8-1) will travel to Ohatchee on Saturday to face Ragland, Ohatchee and Jacksonville.
BOYS TENNIS
Montgomery Academy 9, Prattville 0
The Eagles swept the Lions in singles and doubles, winning their Class 7A Section 2 opener on Thursday at McLemore Tennis Center.
Singles winners were John Alford at No. 1, Jackson Brown at No. 2, Ford Morano at No. 3, Edwin Wu at No. 4, Duncan McInnes at No. 5 and Liam Baker at No. 6.
Doubles winners were Alford-Brown at No. 1, Morano-Wu at No. 2 and Anton Yang and Bo Johnston at No. 3.
Montgomery Academy (13-0) will remain home to play host to defending 7A state champion Vestavia Hills on Monday before traveling to Hoover on Tuesday.
Montgomery Academy 9, Catholic 0
The Eagles swept the Knights in singles and doubles at McLemore Tennis Center on Wednesday, improving to 5-0 in dials matches and 12-0 overall.
Singles winners were John Alford at No. 1, Jackson Brown at No. 2, Ford Morano at No. 3, Edwin Wu at No. 4, Duncan McInnes at No. 5 and Liam Baker at No. 6.
Doubles winners were Alford-Brown at No. 1, Morano-Wu at No. 2 and Anton Yang and Bo Johnston at No. 3.
Montgomery Academy will play host to Prattville on Thursday.
GIRLS TENNIS
Montgomery Academy 9, Prattville 0
The Eagles swept the Lions in singles and doubles at McLemore Tennis Center, allowing their Class 7A Section 2 opponent to score just two points on Thursday.
At No. 1 singles, Gabby Barrera defeated Kate Bibb to remain undefeated. Lola Campbell won at No. 2 singles, Mary Surhea White won at No. 3, Elizabeth Campbell won at No. 4, Alyssa Kaplan won at No. 5 and Lillian Cameron won at No. 6.
In doubles, Barrera-Lola Campbell, White-Elizabeth Campbell and Kaplan-Cameron all swept their doubles matches.
Montgomery Academy (4-2) evened its section record at 1-1.
BOYS SOCCER
Wetumpka 6, Prattville Christian 0
WETUMPKA -- Wetumpka shut out the Panthers 6-0 on Tuesday. PCA (1-2) will return home to play BTW Magnet on Friday.
In the junior varsity game, Nolan Currier scored a goal for the Panthers but PCA lost to the Indians 2-1. PCA (2-3) will travel to play Millbrook Junior High on Monday.
