BOYS SOCCER

Montgomery Academy 10, Brewbaker Tech 0

The Eagles scored six goals in the first half and shut out an area opponent for the ninth time in 10 games, clinching the 4A-5A Area 4 title with a 10-0 win over the Rams at Emory Folmar Soccer Complex on Thursday night.

Alex Kohn had a hat trick in the first half, with Lucas Yi adding a pair of goals and Braxton Welch scoring the final goal of the first half for a 6-0 lead at the break. 

In the second half, Gabriel De Queiroz put in the reserves, with the majority of them coming from the junior varsity team, but the ball possession and high press continued until Kohn scored his fourth goal. Bobby Eskridge, Brewer Welch and Will Ray scored the last three goals of the second half, finishing the game with 10 minutes left on the clock. 

Ruston Basset led the team with four assists, while Brewer Welch, Eskridge and Ethan Yi each had one assist. 

Montgomery Academy completed region play with a perfect 10-0 record, defeating its five area opponents by a combined 75-3 score.

The Eagles (20-0-2) will have a week off before facing either Charles Henderson or Carroll in the first round of the 4A-5A playoffs on Friday at McLemore Field at 7 p.m.

Enterprise 2, Trinity 1

ENTERPRISE -- The 7A Wildcats held off Trinity 2-1 on Thursday night, dropping the Wildcats to 15-3. 

Jackson Champion scored the lone goal for Trinity on a penalty kick. Goalkeeper Joe Handy had nine saves for the Wildcats. 

SOFTBALL

Prattville Christian 10, LAMP 0 (5)

PRATTVILLE -- Alivia Messick pitched a two-hitter to help the Panthers defeat LAMP 10-0 in a game limited to five innings by the mercy rule on Thursday. 

Sarah Williams went 3 for 3 with three RBIs, Katie Johnson went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, Brinkley Sailors went 2 for 3 and Chloe Hinely had a two-run single for PCA.

The Panthers (22-8) remain home to play a round-robin tournament on Saturday, facing Andalusia and Thorsby starting at 9 a.m. 

Prattville 13, Dothan 1 (5)

PRATTVILLE -- Kaytie Chandler allowed just three hits and a run while striking out eight to help the Lions to a 13-1 win over area rival Dothan in a game limited to five innings by the mercy rule on Thursday. 

The Lions pounded out 15 hits on the day, led by Magen Baker, who was 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles and five RBIs, Jessica Cord, who was 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs and Kaylee Robles, who was 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs. Pyper Castro went 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI while Sarah Grace Jones drove in a run as well. 

Prattville (18-12) improved to 4-2 in 7A Area 3 play and will face Austin and Chelsea in the Hoover Classic on Friday. 

Trinity 18, Robert E. Lee 3 (4)

The Wildcats honored Mary Kathryn Adcock and Parker Dansby on Senior Day, then went out and pounded Robert E. Lee 18-3 in a four-inning contest that was the Wildcat’ final home game of the season. 

Adcock had a pair of hits and Dansby added one in their final home game. 

Emma Rose Meldrum led the Trinity offense with three hits, including a pair of doubles, and Ava Milton had a pair of hits, including a double. Kayleigh Creel and Emory Harris each had a hit.

In the circle, Lilly Yancey gave up three runs on three hits while striking out five Generals in four innings of work. 

Next week the Lady Wildcats (13-13) will travel to Holtville on Tuesday and Greenville on Thursday to finish out the regular season. 

BASEBALL

Macon East Academy 9, Morgan Academy 2

SELMA -- With both teams drawing a first-round bye for the state playoffs this weekend, Macon East and Morgan Academy scheduled a game against each other on Thursday, with the Knights defeating the Senators 9-2 at Morgan Academy.

Deonte Powell scattered seven hits while allowing two runs in five innings. The junior walked one and struck out four. Bryant Rascoll closed out the game, striking out one in two innings of no-hit relief.

Gunner Justice went 2 for 4 with a stolen base and a pair of RBIs, Dalton Nickles went 2 for 3 with a stolen base and an RBI and Rascoll went 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs. Jabe Boroff, Matthew Kitchens, Luke Noffsinger, Powell and Hunter Timmerman all had one hit.

Macon East Academy (29-4) will play in the second round of the AA state playoffs on Thursday at home against this weekend’s Southern-Escambia winner, while Morgan will face the Valiant Cross-Springwood winner next week in the second round of the AAA playoffs at home.
