MONDAY PREPS: Lee tames JD; Edgewood girls win

Robert E. Lee 93, Jeff Davis 79
Laneer Surles led six players in double figures with 17 points as the Generals defeated the Volunteers 93-79 in the Lee gym on Monday afternoon.
Lagreer Surles and Jakel Williams had 13 points each for Lee, followed by Chris Dillihay with 12, Kandari Harris with 11 and Quartarrio Taylor with 10.
Ketwan Reeves led Jeff Davis with 23 points.
Lee (5-2) will travel to Dothan on Tuesday, while Jeff Davis (14-2) will play host to Brew Tech on Thursday.
Evangel Christian School 55, Edgewood Academy 52 (OT)
ELMORE -- Harrison Hobbs hit a pair of 3 pointers in overtime to lead Evangel Christian of Alabaster past the Wildcats 55-52 on Monday night in the Edgewood gym.
Hobbs hit five 3 pointers for the Lightning, rallying his team from a 12-point halftime deficit with a strong second-half performance. Brody Edwards led all scorers with 29 points, scoring all four of his team’s points in the first quarter and all four of the Lightning’s points in the second quarter, then scoring seven points in the third and 12 in the fourth to help his team tie the game at 45-45 to force overtime.
Judah Thompson added 13 for Evangel.
Austin Champion led the Wildcats with 16 points, four assists and four steals, followed by Cooper Hall with 13 points and five rebounds. Brody Whitt had a team-high eight rebounds.
Gabe LeMaster had a key 3 pointer in the overtime period and Bradley Boone had two of his eight points in overtime.
Edgewood plays host to Pike Liberal Arts on Thursday and Lakeside on Friday.
GIRLS
Edgewood Academy 60, Evangel Christian School 32
ELMORE -- Kennedy Mensch led a balanced attack with 13 points as the Wildcats won for the sixth time in the last seven games with a 60-32 romp over the Lightning on Monday night.
Mensch had eight of her 13 points in the first quarter and Jaylyn Strength had nine of her 12 in the first quarter as Edgewood jumped out to a 23-3 lead.
Lindsey Brown added 10 points, followed by Emma Weldon with nine.
Hallie Wells hit four 3 pointers to finish with 14 points for the Lightning, followed by Claire Schultz with 12.
Edgewood (7-4) plays host to Pike Liberal Arts on Thursday and Lakeside on Friday.
