AISA AAA RECAP: Glenwood tops Ft Dale; TA eases past Springwood

Glenwood School 59, Fort Dale Academy 41

The Gators used an 18-point second quarter to pull away from the Eagles and defeat Fort Dale 59-41 in the Alabama Independent School Association Class AAA Elite Eight at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl on Monday.

Glenwood will face Tuscaloosa Academy in the AAA semifinals on Friday at 2 p.m.

Jasmyn Burts and Mya Brooks combined for the 18 points to put away the Eagles, with Burts scoring eight of her 25 points in the second quarter and Brooks scoring 10 of her 24.

Macie Fanning added eight points for the Gators.

Cahley Acreman led Fort Dale with 17 points, followed by Annah Parker Little with eight.

Tuscaloosa Academy 40, Springwood School 33

The Knights pulled away to a 16-point lead over the first three quarters, then withstood a furious rally in the fourth to dispose of Springwood 40-33 in the AAA Elite Eight at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl on Monday.

Tuscaloosa Academy advanced to the final four and will face Glenwood on Friday at 2 p.m.

The Knights used balanced scoring in the defensive battle, with Hill Warr and Willesha Lang each scoring seven points to lead the team. Ashlee Fuller led Springwood with nine points, including seven in the final period. Emily Jo Mathews added eight, followed by Tori Patillo with seven.

Clarke Prep 32, Lee-Scott Academy 28

Grace Davis scored eight of her game-high 17 points in the final period as Clarke Prep rallied from a four-point deficit to edge Lee-Scott 32-28 in the AAA Elite Eight at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl on Monday.

Clarke Prep will play Pike Liberal Arts on Friday at 9 a.m. in the semifinals. 

Emma Frances Zellner had eight points, including six in the third quarter, to lead Lee-Scott, which used a 13-point third quarter to rally from a three-point halftime deficit into the lead, only to lose it again in the fourth.

Sterling Tucker added seven points, followed by Ellie Keesee with six. 

 

Pike Liberal Arts 25, Monroe Academy 21

Amity White had nine points and Lakin Harrell added eight as the Patriots overcame a poor shooting performance with defense to hold off the Volunteers 25-21 in the AAA Elite Eight at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl on Monday.

Pike Liberal Arts will face Clarke Prep in the semifinals on Friday at 9 a.m.

Monroe Academy had just one basket in the first half, that coming on an Olivia Shadburn jumper in the second quarter, but used a pair of Eve Dees’ 3 pointers in the third quarter to ignite the offense for a fourth-quarter rally that ran out of time. 

Shadburn and Dees each had six points to lead the Volunteers.
