AISA CLASS AAA QUARTERS: Pike Liberal wallops Monroe Academy

Pike Liberal Arts 59, Monroe Academy 22

The Patriots jumped out to an early lead and held the Volunteers scoreless in the second quarter on the way to a comfortable 59-22 rout in the Alabama Independent School Association Class AAA Elite Eight tournament at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl on Tuesday.

Pike Liberal Arts will play Lee-Scott in the semifinals on Friday at 11:30 a.m.

Austin Cross and Javon Chrisian each had 13 points to lead the Patriots, with Chrisian scoring 11 of his points in a 23-point third quarter that turned the game into a rout. Drew Nelson added 10 points, followed by Mario Davenport and Payne Jefcoat with eight points each.

Jack Shadburn led Monroe with six points.

 

Lee-Scott Academy 61, Morgan Academy 44

Hutch Sprayberry had 10 of his 14 points in the first quarter as the Warriors took a 19-5 lead into the second quarter and never looked back in a AAA Elite Eight game on Tuesday at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl.

Lee-Scott advanced to the final four and will play Pike Liberal Arts on Friday at 11:30 a.m.

Joseph Horne led Lee-Scott with 15 points, followed by Sprayberry with 14 and Payne Weissinger with 11, all in the second half. Carson Alexander added nine.

Rhyne Williams led Morgan with 17 points, followed by Chris Gardner with 11.

 

Tuscaloosa Academy 73, Springwood School 45

Walker McKee and Sam Rowley each had five 3 pointers as the Knights put on an offensive clinic in a 73-45 win over Springwood on Tuesday at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl.

Tuscaloosa advanced to the AAA semifinals and will play Clarke Prep on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Rowley did his damage in the first half, hitting a pair of 3s in the first quarter and three more in the second before finishing with 23 points. McKee didn’t start connecting until the second quarter, but still had 17 points in three quarters of action. 

Landon Stell added eight points, followed by Wilson King with seven.

D. Q. Cameron led Springwood with 19 points, followed by Will Craft with 11. 

 

Clarke Prep 56, Glenwood 55

Caden Bumpers hit six 3 pointers and Cole Pritchett added four as Clarke Prep edged Glenwood 56-55 in the AAA Elite Eight at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl on Tuesday morning.

Clarke Prep will face Tuscaloosa in the AAA semifinals on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Pritchett finished with 27 points, followed by Bumpers with 20 as the pair scored all but nine of Clarke Prep’s points.

Tony Maple led Glenwood with 13 points, followed by Jaron Keyton with 12, Greg Grant with 11 and Jay Sinclair with nine.
