Biscuits clinch seventh-straight playoff berth

The Montgomery Biscuits (67-58/39-24) are back in the playoffs.
The Biscuits clinched a spot in the Southern League post season with a 7-0 win over the Rocket City Trash Pandas (77-55/36-27) on Sunday at Riverwalk Stadium. The win made it seven-consecutive playoff berths and 10th time since the Biscuits franchise originated in 2004.
Four home runs were the difference in the win.
The Biscuits got a solo home run from rightfielder Niko Hulsizer to put the Biscuits up 1-0 in the bottom of the second. In the bottom of the third, shortstop Brett Wisely added a solo shot to make it 2-0. Still in the third, the Biscuits got a three-run shot from Diego Infante that made it five unanswered and a 5-0 lead.
Catcher Blake Hunt’s solo homer in the seventh was a few feet away from hitting a moving train in behind the left-field wall, extending the lead to 6-0. Infante completed the scoring with an RBI-single in the bottom of the seventh.
Mason Montgomery allowed two hits and a walk with five strikeouts in five innings to earn his second Double-A win.
In the ninth, Chris Gau sealed the win retiring the side with three groundouts.
With six games remaining in the regular season, Montgomery and Pensacola, which claimed the first-half Southern League South Division title, are tied for first with identical 67-58 records.
The win completed the Biscuits home season. They They return to action Tuesday when they will travel to Pearl, Miss. to face the Mississippi Braves for the final six games of the season.
