GIRLS BASKETBALL
Catholic 55, Montgomery Academy 19
Both teams started out slow, but Catholic heated up with a 20-point second quarter to defeat the Eagles 55-19 on Friday in the Montgomery Academy gym.
Hannah Smith led the Knights with 23 points, 12 rebounds and three steals, followed by Heaven Bailey’s triple double of 13 points, 11 steals and 10 assists.
Kaci Armistead led Montgomery Academy with six points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals. Olivia Smith added four more for the Eagles, along with four rebounds.
Catholic (4-2) returns home to play host to BTW Magnet on Saturday.
Montgomery Academy (1-7) travels to Plantersville on Tuesday to play Dallas County in the Eagles’ first area game of the season.
Hooper Academy 61, Morgan Academy 34
HOPE HULL -- Katie Robinson scored 19 points, pulled down two rebounds, came up with two steals and had an assist to help the Colts remain unbeaten with a 61-34 win over the Senators in the Tri-County Classic at Darrell Self Gym on Friday night.
Grace Seale added 16 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and a pair of blocked shots, followed by Jade Taylor with 14 points, two rebounds, two steals and an assist. Ashbee Norman had two points, five rebounds, three steals and three assists and Raylee Midkiff had two points, five rebounds and four assists.
Hooper Academy (6-0) will play host to Crenshaw Christian at home on Monday.
Lowndes Academy 38, Macon East Academy 37
HOPE HULL -- Jamiyah Powell had 12 points, 12 rebounds and two blocked shots as the Knights dropped a heartbreaker to the Rebels, losing 38-37 in the Tri-County Classic at Hooper’s Darrell Self Gym on Friday.
Mya Tatum added eight points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals for Macon East, which returns home to play Ezekial on Saturday in four games that start at 1 p.m. with the junior varsity girls game.
Evangel Christian 48, Edgewood Academy 42
ELMORE -- Evangel Christian used a balanced attack to defeat Edgewood Academy on Friday night in the Edgewood gym.
Erica Burton led the Lions with 13 points, followed by AK Davis with 11, Anyah Ray with nine and Symone McNeil with eight.
Evangel Christian (5-2) will play host to Springwood School on Monday.
Prattville Christian 63, Greenville 28
GREENVILLE -- Kayden Carr had 19 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals to lead the Panthers to a 63-28 win over Greenville on Friday in the Greenville gym.
Baylee Rogers added 17 points, seven steals and five assists, followed by Jenna McClendon with 16 points, 15 rebounds, six steals and five blocked shots. Reagan Houston added eight points and five rebounds. Chelsea Cutler had seven steals and four rebounds. Laney Little grabbed five rebounds.
PCA (8-3) will play Marbury on Thursday in the first round of the Autauga County Tournament at Marbury.
Alabama Christian 45, Autauga Academy 26
PRATTVILLE -- Katelyn Sutton scored 17 points, had five steals and handed out three assists as the Eagles won their sixth consecutive game with a 45-26 victory over the winless Generals on Friday night in the Autauga Academy gym.
ACA (6-1) also got eight points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots from Evelyn Tankersley, followed by Izzy Warrick with six points, seven rebounds and three steals.
Chloe Davis hit a pair of 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to lead Autauga (0-5) with six points.
Alabama Christian 48, Thorsby 35
Katelyn Sutton had 16 points and six steals to lead the Eagles to a 48-35 win over Thorsby on Thursday.
Jaide Newkirk added nine points and three steals for ACA (5-1), followed by Sam Burgess with six points and six rebounds. A’Kirra McElveen had 10 rebounds and five assists.
Pike Road 53, Brew Tech 43
PIKE ROAD -- The Patriots snapped a two-game losing skid with a victory over the Rams on Thursday.
Audrey Blaine led all scorers with 19 points and 10 rebounds, followed by KJ Fencher with 11 points and Jordan Robinson with eight .
Pike Road (6-3) travels to Lanett on Saturday.
BOYS BASKETBALL
LAMP 67, Tallassee 60
Zeke Griffin scored 25 points to lead the Golden Tigers to a win over Tallassee in the area opener for both teams on Friday night in the LAMP gym.
Benedict Akwuba added 24 points and 13 rebounds and Johnny Henig grabbed 10 rebounds for the Golden Tigers.
LAMP (4-6) improved to 1-0 in 4A Area 5 play and will remain home to play Booker T. Washington in an area game next Friday.
Hooper Academy 70, Morgan Academy 60
HOPE HULL -- Hooper Academy put together a 28-point first quarter to race out to a 16-point halftime lead on the way to a 70-60 win over the Senators in the Tri-County Classic at Darrell Self Gym on Friday.
Luke Moseley scored 12 of those 28 points and had 31 in the game. Dallas Henderson added 11, followed by Nolan Cole with eight.
Aiden Barnes had 17 points to lead Morgan, hitting four 3-pointers in the third quarter to pull the Senators within nine points heading into the fourth quarter. Cade Henderson added 16 points, followed by Rhett Thomas with 10.
Hooper Academy (7-0) remains home to face Crenshaw Christian on Monday.
Macon East Academy 35, Lowndes Academy 33
HOPE HULL -- Jermaine Pena hit his only basket of the game, a 3-pointer with one second left, to give the Knights a 35-33 win over Lowndes Academy in the Tri-County Classic at Hooper’s Darrell Self Gym on Friday.
Thad McKinney led the Knights with nine points, followed by Omarion Wilson with eight points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals, Brandon Fitch with seven points, seven rebounds, three assists and a steal and Noah Underwood with six points and three rebounds.
Macon East returns home to play Ezekial on Saturday in four games that start at 1 p.m. with the junior varsity girls game.
Evangel Christian 44, Edgewood Academy 41
ELMORE -- Markeith Fallin scored a layup with 18 seconds remaining to seal the win for Evangel Christian Academy over Edgewood Academy on Friday night.
Tylon Shine scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks. Mekhi Williams added 16 points, one rebound and one steal. Fallin grabbed five rebounds and one assist.
The Lions (5-1) return home to play host to Springwood School on Monday.
Greenville 74, Prattville Christian 62
GREENVILLE -- Cody Chapman scored 28 points and dished out four assists for the Panthers in a 74-62 loss to the Tigers in the Greenville gym on Friday night.
Sam Wheeler added 15 points, followed by Ethan Girlie with six points and five assists, Justin Chapman with six points and four rebounds and Carter Fiacco with five points. Wade Mora grabbed seven rebounds and Easton Miller took four charges.
PCA (2-8) will travel to Millbrook to play Stanhope Elmore on Tuesday.
In the junior varsity game, CJ Robinson had 20 points and seven rebounds for Prattville Christian in a 57-26 loss to Greenville. Ethan Kiefer dished out six assists and Murray Wright grabbed four rebounds. PCA (2-5) will travel to play Stanhope Elmore on Tuesday.
Alabama Christian 65, Autauga Academy 33
PRATTVILLE -- AC Walters had 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Eagles in a 65-33 win over the Generals on Friday in the Autauga Academy gym.
Mac Moorer added 14 points and five rebounds for ACA (5-2), followed by Christian Snipes with nine points and nine rebounds as the Eagles scored 19 points in the second quarter and 19 more in the third quarter to open up a 55-27 lead.
Hooper Academy 66, Macon East Academy 34
HOPE HULL -- Nolan Cole outscored the Knights in the first half as Hooper Academy burst out to a 25-point halftime lead on the way to a 66-34 win over Macon East Academy in the opening round of the Tri-County Tournament at Darrell Self Gym on Thursday.
Cole had 16 points in the first half, while the Hooper defense combined to hold the Knights to just 12 points in a 25-point second quarter outburst.
Cole finished with 25 points, followed by Luke Moseley with 10 and Kaleb Jackson with eight.
Noah Underwood led Macon with 11 points, all in the second half, followed by Jermaine Pena with eight.
Marbury 67, Stanhope Elmore 59
MARBURY -- The Bulldogs unleashed a balanced attack on the Mustangs to secure a 67-59 win over Stanhope Elmore on Thursday in the Marbury gym.
Jamar Brown scored 14 points, followed byJason Crenshaw and Aurelius Reed with 12 points each and Jalen Hall with 10.
Thorsby 53, Alabama Christian 46
Christian Snipes scored 13 points to lead the Eagles in a 53-46 loss to Thorsby on Thurday night.
Mac Moorer added 12 points for the Eagles (4-2), followed by Jayden Jones with 11 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
