PREP HOOPS: Pike Road edges Lanier in OT; Trinity girls crush Elmore County

BOYS BASKETBALL

Pike Road 64, Sidney Lanier 61 (OT)

PIKE ROAD -- Pike Road overcame a 13-point deficit in the third quarter to defeat the Poets 64-61 in overtime in the Pike Road gym on Tuesday. 

Jordan Holmes led the Pattriots with 17 points, six rebounds and four assists, followed by Dallas Henderson with 14 points. Cody Markham had a team-high 10 rebounds in the paint to go along with four points. 

Pike Road travels to Chilton County Thursday.

Lowndes Academy 38, Macon East Academy 30

CECIL -- Clayton Hussey’s 23 points led the Rebels as Lowndes Academy hit its free throws late for a 38-30 win over Macon East Academy on Monday, beating the Knights for the second time in three days.

Hussey also had nine rebounds, four steals, two assists and a pair of blocked shots, while Zach Azar had 10 points and 10 rebounds for a double double. Watters Box had three points and a pair of rebounds and Andrew Myers had two points and a rebound.

For Macon East, Omarion Wilson had 12 points, a rebound and a steal, followed by Jacob Johnson with nine points and four rebounds and Kegan Roney with six points, nine rebounds, an assist and a pair of steals.

Lowndes improved to 4-3 with the win. Macon East (3-5) remains home to play Springwood in a region game on Wednesday. 

 

Autaugaville 71, Prattville 68

AUTAUGAVILLE -- Prattville placed three players in double figures but couldn’t come up with the stops late as the Eagles defeated the Lions 71-68 in the championship game of the Autauga County Basketball Tournament in the Autaugaville gym on Friday night.

Ty Bryant hit four 3-pointers and finished with 23 points, five rebounds and five assists, followed by Evan Chandler with 14 points, three rebounds and four steals, Xavier Dunn with 10 points, nine rebounds and four steals and Isaiah Bradley with nine points and four rebounds.

 

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Trinity 59, Elmore County 16

Maddie Smith had 17 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals as the Wildcats cruised to a 59-16 win over the Panthers on Monday at Captain Jack Court.

Francie Morris added 15 points, nine steals, seven assists and five rebounds, followed by Lilly Smith with 10 points and Mya Moskowitz with nine points and five blocked shots. 

Trinity travels to Brew Tech before returning home on Friday to play Catholic.  

 Catholic 77, Autaugaville 34

The Knights jumped out to a 24-8 lead after the first quarter and led 46-18 at the half before coasting to a 77-34 win over the Eagles in the Catholic gym on Tuesday. 

Hannah Smith led Catholic with 27 points, eight rebounds and four steals, while Kierstyn Green had 11 points, four blocked shots and three steals and Heaven Bailey added eight points, eight steals and eight assists. Grace Levanda also had eight points, along with four assists, and Haley Ishman had eight points.

The Knights will travel to St. James on Saturday.

 

Pike Road 65, Sidney Lanier 27 

PIKE ROAD -- Jazz Johnson led the Patriots with 13 points and six rebounds in a 65-27 win over the Poets in the Pike Road gym on Tuesday night.

Erica Burton added 11 points for the Patriots, while KJ Fencher and Audrey Blaine had eight points each.

Pike Road (11-2) travels to Chilton County on Thursday.

Pike Road 56, Autaugaville 15

AUTAUGAVILLE -- Audry Blaine led the Patriots with 12 points and five rebounds in a 56-15 victory over the Eagles in the Autaugaville gym on Monday. 

Taylor Kelly added 10 points, followed by KJ Fencher and Erica Burton with eight points each. 

The Patriots (10-2) return home tomorrow to play host to Sidney Lanier.

 

Lowndes Academy 39, Macon East Academy 37

CECIL -- Jamiya Powell had 21 points, 12 rebounds and three steals, but her shot at the buzzer just missed, leaving the Knights on the losing end of a 39-37 score in the Macon East gym on Monday.

Miya Tatum added six points and three steals for the Knights, who return to action on Wednesday in a region game at home against Springwood School.
